Dennis,
Perhaps I didn't make myself as clear as necessary in my post. I was referring to ,under dodgy, those regional airports serviced by QANTAS subsidiaries such as Air Link, etc, to gain a firer comparison with those airports serviced by Garuda's domestic operation. Both international operations fly into the same standard airfields. I have no need, and nor do I intend, to comment on individual Australian airfields. Suffice to say that any airfield not served by onsite ATC personnel, radar, monitored approach/navigation aids or any of the other accepted safety features expected by the majority of the traveling public can be described as dodgy, although it is a judgement call. Australia has scores of such airfields. The airports you have actually named in your list are all capable of handling large aircraft of 737 size or higher, have sealed runways, approach aids, etc, etc. These details can be checked by anyone interested enough via a simple google search or checking the Professional Pilot network at pprune. Oh, before I forget, I have 44 years experience as a pilot, the last 18 as a Senior Flying Operations Inspector with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority Australia. Part of the job was the assessment of airfields.

Cheers

Maverick
