Komang and Ketut made a short style cocktail dress for my daughter a few years back in material ("shot" satin/net tulle), which I took with me. I also had a picture of the style she wanted copied. They have also made evening dresses for a friend, so are experienced in this.
Alta Moda at the Bali Galeria has a huge range of evening materials if you want to purchase in Bali.
Also, Komang has many samples of material, so you could check that too.
I am not sure about costs to Sydney but this is what I paid for goods into Perth:-
I posted back my excess luggage by mail last trip, using the EMS system, and used the small post office in the lane beside Body & Soul Bambini shop in Jalan Legian. It was about the 4th shop on the left hand side heading towards the beach end.(There are other post offices as well). From memory, 18kgs cost around $150 in mid 2008, but I believe that postage rates have recently increased.
The box, which they packed and sealed by sewing hessian around it, arrived at my home in Perth 5 days after leaving Bali, and I believe that it may have gone to Sydney first to be cleared?
Seamail is available through the Post Office at a lesser cost, but it takes 6-9 weeks to arrive.
Also, depending on who you are flying with, you can pre-purchase extra baggage allowance, as I have done for my forthcoming trip to Bali on Jet Star. For the Bali-Perth sector, it costs $40 per 5kg lot.Ring 131538 and follow the prompts.
There is also an option to use QANTAS unaccompanied Baggage system - check out their website for that.
If you use the Search the Forum box on the BTF site, you will find more info re House of Komangs and the EMS system.
Hope this helps.
