bali do's & don't's

Hi there
I am travelling to Bali with 2 female friends.I haven't been to bali for close to 20 years and not sure what to expect, I am sure things have changed. I am wondering if I can have some tips on do's and dont's in Bali. Also I am wondering is it safe for me to go out shopping on my own and get a taxi etc on my own. I am wanting to do lots of shopping. Staying in a bungalow at the legian beach hotel. Any advice, safely awareness, things I should know etc would be great. Thanks in advance.
