The thing is that the jewellers accepted the commissions - I provided a picture along with the ring and a wide gold wedding band. At no time was I told - sure, we'll do it - but, Oh, be prepared for us to take your $900 stone & replace it with a $300 stone. Just as I am sure Vicki wasn't informed that her stone would fall out & a friend wasn't told her emerald would be shattered.

Those of us who go to Bali only annually or less & don't have a relationship with a shop are fair game to them it seems.

At no time was I told that what I wanted done was beyond their expertise, as it clearly was, despite it being a very simple job.

I very well know that there are many people who have had wonderful work done by both Audrey & Mrs Pak, together and separately.

BUT you should not discount and denigrate people who have had not had your happy results. You were just lucky, that is all.

As I have said, it is not by any means easy to admit to having been ripped off.

I am and will always be grateful to anyone who reports dodgy experiences, as should we all.
