For silver plated beads you can pay from 5cents a bead which will look like a fishing sinker and rot your skin off up to a more exspensive bead which will be silver plated with a rhodium coating and no lead and nickel. When origanally shopping for these beads and continually asking for no lead or nickel many of these companies told me that it would not be a problem because for a few cents more per bead they would stamp them with the silver stamp and no one would know the difference. I said I would when my customers get allegies from them.
This happens in Bali as well. There is no such thing as second quality sterling silver. To prove a point last year we bought some "sterling silver" stamped necklaces which were large and chunky for $5.00 a piece. We used my friend as the test dummy and she went red within the hour.
But as I said before that as long as you are not allergic to them it does not matter wether they are silver or plated as long as they are done well and you like them. Many people say you can tell the difference but for the amount of people that comment on mine and all the people who have the ones from us it shows that an awful lot cannot tell the difference.

Just my opinion and experience
