Rp question?

I remember reading some time ago that some notes in Rp had been replaced/withdrawn. My question is I kept money from Jan 08, can this be used for a taxi from the airport or do I have to change this at a bank,as the drivers will not accept old notes. I know this is a little confusing, however, I dont want to be in an embarrasing situation late at night. Thks
