You can pretty much dress however you feel comfortable in Bali. I've found that I take a couple of pairs of shorts and bathers with comfy thongs and then buy a lot there. The stuff on the street is great for wearing around Bali but I find that I don't wear a lot of it when I get home (I still buy quite a bit though!) I always manage to find a couple of gorgeous dresses in the boutiques, last visit got a couple of Little Black Dresses from the Centro in Dynasty shopping plaza. I wore these on different nights to Ku de ta with slip on strappy flats (bought in Bali) and felt, not only comfortable, but glam without being over the top. Have had several visits to Bali and find with every trip I take less and less from home! Hope this helps. Essentially - whatever you do you won't be a freak...it's a very accepting place!
