some people are comfortable wearing elastic waist shorts or casual Bali dresses, others prefer to take clothing from home that they normally wear. I always take one strappy 'night time' dress.
You will not be out of place at an upmarket restaurant if you dress up a little. Many expats love to get doled up for a night out as do tourists.
As long as you remember it is hot, keep make up to minimum, shoe heels under 3in then wear what makes you feel good.
It is not 'bad'. :)
