My earlier post about the much malaigned "KUTA" has raised another issue deserving of a new thread (In the absence of any recent JBR's)
Our good friend and contributor Rangi the Kiwi raises a very interesting topic.
That of traffic densities in certain areas.
In a nutshell the traffic problems in some part of all of the tourist areas is becoming totally unmanageable.
Hot spots, I suppose are Legian St. travelling south (past memorial), the beach road and out on Imam Bonjol, and I am noticing a big build on Sunset Rd sometimes (close to Carrefour, as no U turn allowed)
When the local tourist influx is in full swing, it really is gridlock, and I for one have just pulled over and locked up, to go back late at night / early morning to collect the car.
The changes have to come, but in what form??
Will it be the creation of "malls" with only early morning access for deliveries, will it be a better public transport system as Rangi mentions?
Will it be forced demolition of buildings to create width for dual lanes or what.
One thing is absolutely for sure....if nothing significant is done, and a staged plan implimented, you will not move around the "Greater Kuta" area in 5 or 6 years time with anything larger than a sepida motor, and at significant holiday times, forget even that.
We as tourists, and ex pats as well have contributed to the problem, so what is the answer??
Any thoughts??
