I was always put off by Kuta's reputation so was a late convert but I love it now. I especially like Poppies 1 and the surrounding lanes. Yes there are a few w*nkers (to be blunt) but I think they are in the minority by far. At least there are no "plastic people" posed on minimalistic bar stools in minimalistic bars which charge maximum prices.
Having said that I like Legian/Seminyak too. Of course the Kuta w*nkers are replaced by what I once read described as "Seminyak transindental w*nkers". Who whilst not as loud are just as painful. It's the posing I think. Actually come to think of it they can be quite loud too but again in the minority.
Tuban and Ubub both leave me a bit cold. Don't know why maybe because to me Tuban lacks Kuta's personality but doesn't have anything special with which to replace it. Ubud? I feel as if I should like it but it never quite matches up to what I think I should feel about it.
Sanur, love it too. I like meeting the European crowd in general. It's a nice cosmopolitan feeling. Mind you I will admit to always removing the cushion from restaurant seats in case a budgie smuggler clad guy or a thong clad girl have been sitting on it before me. Now THAT is an annoying habit! but hey, that's just me.
Got a bit lazy of late but in the past have also loved Lovina and Candi Dasa.
Yep, I like it all, warts and all.
