Yes they are fun and most work to the best of their capabilities. Yes the seats are comfortable enough. Yes its a no frills fare so I never expected any.
The main problem is from above - NOT ENOUGH STOCK, let alone choice. I thought in the early days it was teething problems but the same thing is happening years later.
1000 Sydney - Perth(5 hrs): ALL sandwiches sold out HALFWAY down the plane
0800 Perth - Sydney(4 hrs): Breakfast ran out by row 10!
Man asks steward for a drink - "service is coming through now" and steward returns to back seat to read his mag. Man gets his Coke 20 mins later.
LAST trip, and I emphasize LAST, I did internet check in to get a window seat so I wouldn't have to get up for anyone. While waiting to board I'm told that "that seat is double booked" and I now have an aisle seat. Get on plane to see there is a spare window seat 2 rows up. In the middle of my red wine I have to get up for passenger next to me. In the process I am knocked by passing staff and end up wearing red wine all over my beige pants. Seething I tell staff who look blankly at me and no offer to have them cleaned. I ask for white wine (as no vinegar is available)to neutralise it - it is given begrudgingly. I had to wash out pants in the toilet and sit on paper towels. ANGRY & embarassed I vow never again to set foot on a Virgin plane regardless of how cheap the fair is.
Valid point re the CC but I hope the water was free, especially as it is confiscated at the boarding gate and the recommendations are that you keep hydrated. Sitting in air con for that long will make anyone thirsty, let alone suffering from Bali Belly.
