Yes I buy the Batik, punch metal work,sarongs,t/shirts, etc., cushion covers & table cloths. But for me the beauty of a trip to Bali is the things that are not measured by rupiah. It's the people you meet, your driver ( Thanks Mudita, Gusti, and Wayan),the person who checks you into your room( Thanks Didin we love you for your caring when our daughter was sick), someone like Ron at Sanur Beach Villa's who gives my Dad a pair of sandals when his broke. Richard at Rambutan Villa's who gave us the best villa we ever stayed at. The receptionist at Bumi Ayu who rang Qantas for us when my son left his MP3 player on the plane trip over. The wonderful owners of Sarinah supermarket Sanur who opened their store 15 mins early because we were waiting outside, & their son who ran up the road at the end of our shop to find a taxi for us so we didn't have to walk. The staff at Sarinah who years later helped my Dad up their ramp & found him a seat as they realised he was unsteady on his feet. The airport staff who put my Dad in a wheelchair & carried him through customs & immigration promptly as he could not stand in the queues. The check in staff in Bali who understood my Mum needed a seat VERY CLOSE TO THE TOILET as she had the worst Bali Belly we had ever seen. The other thing I take home is hundreds of photos for memories. Sandra
