I've always paid it with Australian currency, since it first came in. The amount in Aussie dollars will vary daily, but I've always found it to be pretty close to what I expected - having checked online the night before leaving. Change usually given in rupiah, which is handy, but some people have had change in AUD from what I've read on here.
Check sites like oanda or xe (both dot com) for exchange rates to give you an idea of how much to expect to pay.
