We always take a product like Travalan for prevention of traveller's diarrhoea and you can also take acidophilus which comes in a powder form to be given to children. Check with your pharmacy & they can work out a dose for your 2 year old.
The electrolyte replacement ice blocks are called Hydralyte and come in orange or blackcurrant. You can even use them in liquid form but are best frozen if there is vomiting so the child gets small amounts of liquid and doesn't over load their stomach.
Last time in Bali my Mum (68) got very sick and ended up in emergency when we returned to Oz. The doctor told her she should have ceased the Gastrostop after 2 days if they had not worked. She didn't and this is why she stayed ill for a month after her return. In the end she was given a mega dose of antibiotics at the hospital . I came across this information on this forum after our return & I wish we had known about it while we were away. Sorry I couldn't find who posted it. It came from one of the Bali medical centres.
