You will have to go further afield than Kuta /Legian to see Bali. I have a son your age that came over with us in July 2008 and did these tours with his younger brother(16) and mate. They recommend
The Bike tour (approx. $40AUS) - Do a search for 'Bali Budaya ECO mountain cycle tour' there's a JBR by Addy of Oz that covers it all.
White water rafting down the Telaga Waja river with Bali International Rafting. The Ayung river can be too shallow and other companies may have dodgy rafts.
3 Island rafting (see more and better snorkelling than the cruise) with 'Bali Hai' (they have a website) - you can book in Aus but its cheaper in Bali.
The Safari park is OK and has some worthwhile show rides that you might be interested in.
May I suggest, when you get to Bali, give Connie a call 081 2361 1864 to do all your bookings. Her English is excellent and she will do the right thing by you.
Finally, you are going to a foreign country not Aus's 7th state, as a 'rich' naive person. Someone WILL try to take advantage of you. When you get drunk you will be MORE vulnerable. Have a few drinks at the clubs but leave the real heavy sessions for your hotel grounds.
Only have the money you need for the outing on you - lock your passport, tickets, departure tax and large amounts of cash in a safe deposit box (there will be one at reception).
And please, please, please don't hire a motorbike - you've barely had your license let alone had to deal with their way of driving. I've watched a 22 yr old die after a motorbike accident on a beach in Bali.
I'm not a wowser - I have enjoyed plenty of HEAVY sessions and did some REALLY STUPID things because of that (including losing passport and ALL my money) - I've just lived longer and know how easily things can happen. If you were my son I wouldn't be letting you go to a foreign country for schoolies. But you are, so its a time to be mature (which you may well be) and keep safe before all else. Then have a GREAT time.
Cheers, Vicki
