sizeable town or city, the rules are the same.
Everything gets grottier the later it gets...no different.
As far as the law goes...same story.
If you want to draw attention to yourself by behaving in an outlandish way, the "law" may take a look at you.
Remember that "the law" in Bali isn't neccessarily the guy with the uniform on.
There are many plain clothes people about that are involved in keeping the law, and maybe lining their pockets along the way as well.
Same golden rule as at home....stick together, have fun, avoid any mention of drugs, don't get "blotto" and treat people with respect.
You will have a great time.
