apart from the hot springs (i must have missed those) the information so far sounds good. we were there for a few nights in november. it took about 20-30 min at the most from amed to get there. there are lovely walks around tirtagangga if you are adventurous and have the time. we would just pick a path, or an interesting landmark and go for a few hours. also, we really enjoyed amlapura, a ten minute trip away. its palaces were interesting and walking around the streets was fun. we has a seven and an eight year old with us and they enjoyed these things, too. they loved feeding the fish at the water palace, but we were unhappy with the water quality of the swimming pools there, also the bottom was really slippery.
tirta gangga is fun because lots of indonesian tourists go there and they are such a delight to talk to, so friendly and open and full of life; we spent quite some time just sitting around chatting to them whilst the kids explored the grounds.
