You would generally cover up a little more than in Bali, no skimpy tops and short shorts, t-shirts (or the equivalent blouse) and 3/4 pants or skirts should be fine for most places. You will find that the Javanese are very polite and welcoming. Lots of clothing shops and large shopping centres in Bandung, and generally an interesting place to visit - I really enjoyed it.
