We didnt do much as this was a restful holiday rather than a sightseeing holiday for us.
Shopping - didnt really do much shopping either although we did go to a tailor and the boss had four shirts made, I had 2 dresses (which were long and also lined) and a top made, cost was 1,100,000rp.
Went back for first fitting, bosses shirts were perfect but both my dresses and top too small. I was wondering how they were going to fix them as it didnt look like there was much room to let the seams out. "please come back tomorrow" so off we went.
When in bali we always use Salon Hana in Jl Benesari, the girls there are great and although its not flash, its airconditioned and very comfy. Massages were 44,000 for an hour, we had one every second day and on this day I decided to have a body scrub as well, after the massage.
What can I say? these are NOT for the faint hearted. Basically they get a mixture of god knows what (i think its based on sea salt) and rub your whole body over and over and over again until the mix goes dry and flakes off your body. As you are totally naked except for knickers, this is quite an experience for a woman getting her boobs done (and not all good either!)
Just when you thought she was going to hit an artery she would stop and move to the next spot. After I paid and left I was sure that if i go back to the tailors now, my dresses will fit!!! Im sure I went out a kilo lighter.........
Bits of shopping we did were mainly for the kids, bought some of those hairy thongs for my son, searched bali for them and finally found some in the surf shop at Centro, ordinary billabong thongs for son number 2 and a rashy for 399,000 (billabong - looks like good quality)
I found a nice little boutique up the road and round the bend up from where Yutz and flying piano is. Bought a lovely skirt , and three tops (all nice and hand made) for about 450,000. I could have gone nuts in there, but kept reminding myself "this is NOT a shopping holiday" for anybody interested its on the right as you are heading towards Legian road and opposite side of the road from a "wayhoo" sign (or something sounding like that)
We bought lots of DVD's and spent some time going round the different shops trying to get everybodys orders, next time I will get dvd's for family no worries, but with friends lists as well it was a bit much. We would have been easily under the luggage allowance without them all but as it happened, I had to put the bulk of them in hand luggage and lug them around the whole day on the trip back - not good.
bought some necklaces for about 25,000 each and a "genuine" prada purse for about 50,000. Broke my watch about 5 mins after putting in a new battery so off to buy an identical watch for 50,000.
Hats - my kids wanted the DC and quiksilver hats the ones with the flat brim, couldnt get them under 50,000 (last october couldnt get them under 80,000) so just goes to show that it being a bit quieter made everything a bit cheaper.
I bought 2 pairs of great shoes at the bintang supermarket, they are a "Zandillac" brand they look just like the Rivers type slip on shoes, really comfy and good quality, got those for 67,000 each (bargain!!!) a black pair and a brown pair.
We got some quiksilver sneakers for number 1 son, i was going to bargain for them but the boss was tired for the day so just said 350,000 and got them for that (their first price was 850,000) they look pretty good, hopefully they wont fall apart too quickly!
anyway I cant remember what else we got but had a fantastic holiday, it wasnt long enough (never is!)
if anybody has any questions please ask :)
