I saw one in a music shop on the main drag in Sanur. Looked like it had been there quite a few years and I wouldn't touch it. From memory they wanted the equivalent of about $300 Australian for it. You can get a good Fender 5 string banjo in Perth for around $400.
Plenty of guitars of all kinds on sale, from electric to classical, but I didn't think the quality was all that good. There was quite a lot of old stock and the shop's aircon was not the best so if looking for acoustic, classical or even a banjo, you'd need to check carefully for signs of damage from humidity. Some of the semi-acoustic guitars had rust on the controls for example. It was the only music shop I went to as my driver said the others carried much the same stock and were probably not as good as this one.
I don't think buying musical instruments in Bali is a very good idea, if you are serious about music. If it's just a crash and bash guitar to take to parties then ok, but people who want to get a good instrument would be much better off paying more at a reputable dealer in Australia where they can get a warranty as well.
