to get to the "Amed" strip.
One is from the south, through Amlapura, and past the old Ujung water palace that is being renovated.
This route takes you up the hilly and most interesting coastal road, which I personally favour.
The other way, takes you inland, and past Tirtaganga as you make your way in a north easterly circle, to enter the Amed strip from the north.
There always used to be a "toll gate" of sorts this way, manned by locals collecting a few rupe for local development.
So you can visit whichever of the water palace sites you choose, depending on which way you decide to go.
