And, rabies aside, I have never seen a monkey injury that hasn't become infected to some degree. I also agree with the suggestion further down about viewing them along the road. There are many places that monkeys can be viewed and, if you do want your kids to interact with them, albeit very minimally, they can throw food to them. Those monkeys are quite wary and easily hunted away if they get too close.
