Staying in Y block which is to the right as you come out of reception, right in front of the main pool. Fab position, but as i said wasn't aware there was another pool to the left side of reception in GK block.
We're on the ground floor, room is more than adequate, bathroom fab (shower has great water pressure), towels are very shabby (old and grey) but do the job, sheets a little old but feel good, nice minibar to stock your stuff, and lovely little patio with fishies to feed in the pond at the front.
Breakfast; as I said in another post, I'm a food snob and whilst I'll eat off the street, I really like a hearty breakfast, but that's just me and my partner. Its my favourite meal. I think KP's is very average. You get the usual fruit assortment (pineapple, watermelon, papaya), cornflakes (sorry but they are like cardboard), tea and coffee (filter), juice (choice of orange or watermelon), toast, croissants and cooked breakfast like eggs, omelettes and bain maries full of other stuff like bacon, tomatos, sausage, potatoes, Indo food, 'plant pancakes'. Yes, you can order a banana pancake (which is everywhere here) but it will cost you, plus if you want 'real' coffee, that will also cost you. Not happy. So found other places to eat breakfast: Tommy's in Jl Werkudara, fantastic suggestion from the list loved it there, 75,000 for two eggs, croissants and drinks; Zanzibar on the beach fabulous, more expensive but yummo; and still to find others.
I also note that many of the staff of the hotel are not happy chappies, girls better but the boys are sad sacks. I'm not usually aware of this in Bali but it is extremely apparent at KP on this visit. The pool bar has 'happy' who can't smile or help in anyway. When you ask for a towel pool he just thrusts the book at you. I have travelled a lot in my life and this is the first time I've come across such lacking friendliness and care. I must be sounding like a whinger but really Bali always has fantastic friendliness and hospitality but on this visit at this hotel its missing.
Is it because of the quietness of Bali at the moment? May be. Many traders and taxi drivers are saying its so quiet. Its getting busier, more and more people every day in the hotel, which is great for Bali but now I have to share!!
Would any of this deter me from staying at KP? No, disappointed as I am about the breakfast, the hotel is beautiful, perfectly located and reasonably priced. As always, I realise it takes two to tango, may be I'm the cow, not the staff, its always possible.
Hope this helps
