AUS$8 for 30 tablets of chloroquine, and you do not need a presciption. Not sure about Malarone though.

I usually take chloroquine with me and assess the risks (by word of mouth) when I get to my destination. If its bad I'll leave immediately: sometimes entire villages are affected, and they'll tell you straight away, other times there is only the odd case, but its always around, especially in the wet season.
