you would be better off going for mobile internet. There are a few ISPs (such as Indosat) who have mobile internet coverage in Kuta.
Take your lappy with you when checking hotels and make sure you've got coverage in the room they offer you.
While internet is a lot better than it used to be in Bali, it is still expensive compared to many other places. Expecting a/c AND wireless internet in hotels in your price range price might be a bit hard to find.
