Looked at some flights yesterday and for around $1200 for 2 people including taxes was good value, I think it was Virgin . Play with the dates as some days are cheaper.
Have a go a book yourself online make sure your read the luggage bit as the cheaper flights only allow hand luggage but for an extra few dollars you can get 20 kg plus hand luggage, you can also upgrade and get an extra 5 kg for $60.00 aus.
