Last time I was in Ubud I saw the intricate bone carvings and fell in love with a small octopus carving, it was only small would fit into the palm of my hand and so incredibly detailed.

There were a few shops selling them but the best and most expensive were on Monkey Forest road the ones I loved were over $100 AUD.

I didn't buy one as I was concerned about paying so much and not been able to get it past Australian quarantine so I thought I would wait till our December trip, the problem is I have checked quarantine and you have to declare bone but it seems to depend on what type of bone etc. ?

Can anyone who has brought one of these or other bone carvings into Australia tell me if they had problems? Also anyone bargained them down to a reasonable price?

Cheers Deb.
