so good to be back after 2 years! Thanks to Nicki for all her fabulous booking service (may see you somewhere soon after 27th)!!
We've been in Ubud for 4 days, staying at Cendana which is fabulous, we've got a top floor room that is at the back of the hotel looking over rice paddies and the pool is so lovely, fits right in, its saltwater and a earthy green colour, these are definitely the best rooms. I'll report more on this in a JBR when I get back.
Weather is great, not too hot really unless the sun is out, but we're getting thunderstorms every day around lunchtime, the one today lasted for 2 hours, incredible, then in the cool of the arvo took off for shopping and eating.
Cinta Grill lovely place recommended on BTF, yummy and very well priced 115,000 Rp for two main meals and drinks. Lovely to sit watching people and bikes buzz by, the humid air calming and relaxing you.
Tutmak Cafe for brekkie (Cendana's is not flash, nothing bad but just average, not a lot of choice). (Jl Dewa Sita north side of Football Field in Monkey Forest Road).
Cafe Lotus for lunch, 150,000 Rp for entrees, mains and a couple of drinks (soft and binnies). Lovely setting, shame the waiting staff couldn't be bothered!
Mozaic. What can I say about this place? Its incredible. Tasting and Indo tasting menus 550,000 Rp each, with a wine pairing 450,000 Rp extra, so expensive for Bali but it was sublime, each course was to die for. Drinks incredible. Setting incredible. What can I say? If you like your food cheap don't come but if you want an experience that is world class, definitely make a booking. The restaurant has just been named one of the 5 best restaurants in Asia.
Will catch up more tomorrow. Really want to give a good JBR coz I feel there is so much to say, nuances that I don't have time for sitting at Bali Highway (Jl Raya Ubud) 495 Rp/min, very nice and cool. I want to give back to all the wonderful forumites who have shared such amazing info over the years.
