I went there some years ago as I awoke with a limp wrist - quiet at the back please, no sniggering.
The doctor I saw said he had never seen anything like this so rang Jakarta and spoke to an Australian doctor.
He got off the phone and told me I had "Captain Taylor Syndrome" I made him write it down and later rang my 85 year old father, a long retired doctor.
He laughed at the diagnosis saying that the doctor meant " Carpal tunnel Syndrome" but from my description of the problem it was the Radial nerve not the Median so it was Radial compression Syndrome I was suffering from.
He found it unbelievable that a qualified doctor could not recognise and diagnose the problem.
My father qualified in 1941 but he retained more knowledge than this recently qualified man.
Another time the Wahine was feeling decidedly off colour and after a consultation and lab tests they announced that she had Typhoid. She returned to NZ soon after and the diagnosis was confirmed as Giardia and the treatment was changed accordingly.
So we had a 200% failure rate!
We don't go there any more and also don't like the charges which are more than double those which apply in a country like NZ where the doctor is properly qualified.
