paddling in the mud and grabbing with hand. Also get edible snails called kakul from the rice field and these taste pretty good with kecap or soya sauce. I think the things that small boys catch with a stick and thread are a sort of dragonfly which is also eaten after grilling and tastes OK and a bit sharp and peppery.
Plenty of interesting things to try if you venture out to the village markets or to local's home.
