From that same trip, was my encounter with a gecko. Well that's what the hotel tried to call it, but as far as I was concerned it was more size of a giant lizard or goanna! (i'm talking about 12-14 inches...)Going to bed one night at our hotel, (the Legian Beach Hotel - the only one of that standard in that area at the time, I think...) I heard a thumping noise, and looked up to see this extremely large creature running up the walls. Well there was no way I was going to bed and Turning the Light Off with that thing still in the room! I declared that it was it or me? Who did my husband of the time wish to share the room with? Fortunately, since we were on our honeymoon, he chose me! After lots of flapping of rolled up papers and a hotel staff member assisting, I think the offending creature was ushered out the door, and we could go to bed. Although the "gecko" probably could have come straight back in again through a gap in the wall if he wanted!
