If the location is the priority you will have a hard time finding modern style property. If the modern style is more important you may have to move a few Km north and try Nirwana Legian (it should be open by the time you travel) or the Outrigger o-ce-n. Both have dining and shopping facilities nearby but maybe not the ones you are used to.
