Either are not far from Kuta, its really quite close either side, they both border Kuta, but being in Kuta can be a really really intense experience and if you are on a honeymoon you might want to slow things down a bit... maybe :)
To me its a bit funny, Bali hotels, the star rating on the place, and even what you pay doesn't always measure up with what you get. All the hotels are all very clean, the service from the balinese staff exceptional and most the time you don't spend much time there because you are so busy out and about or eating at a local warung/restaurant....
If budget is a concern then just go for a 2.5 - 3 star, because seriously, to my eyes, and admittedly I am male, there isn't a huge difference, it usually comes down to the bathroom I think, and how basic it is, but really, you are just getting a bed in a small room :D
Some suggestions? Umm having only gone twice before and not staying here I'd still probably suggest, if you can get in,
Legian - Melasti Beach Resort, and I saw this hotel looked well located The Lohka, also good reviews, and I know its well priced as we considered staying there next April, but we are staying at MBR instead.
Tuban - Febris, I have only been to the spa attached but the grounds of the hotel looked great and the dayspa was unreal! Its not really Tuban but Bali Garden Hotel which is kinda kuta/tuban would be pretty good, directly out of the way but still close to the action, across th road from Waterbomb, right near Discovery Mall and a whole host of restaurants....
I don't think I have suggested any really really cheap places but they are all 3 stars... I think :) Its hard to tell :D
