I thought with all the doom and gloom around lately my experience there highlights the fact that it doesnt matter how bad it gets, there are always others worse off.
Thanks Filo for the advice, the children are now receiving regular iodine medication through the East Bali Poverty Project iniative with the local Government, who are finally doing something about it.
With regards to the boy with cretinism, I will ask the supervisor there if anything can be done for him. I will get back to you on that subject.
You are quite right Lisa, the book "The Art of Learning through doing' is in fact the true story of the East Bali Poverty Project Children. We recently had an art exhibition of the children's paintings including frames they made themselves and all the money raised went to buy items for their school.
Glad you enjoyed the read, I enjoyed the memories when writing it.
