If thats a fault, then so be it.
Mistreated dogs is bad enough, but monkeys are just a bit like us (well a lot like me if my wife is any guide!!), and I would certainly have done the same thing (Maybe even "sprung" the monkey to freedom, although there are potential problems with that too)
If you have been to any of the various monkey re-habilitation places (Phuket has one), the outcomes of keeping these cousins of ours in bars and other areas of tourist entertainment can be seen.
The monkey probably did not appreciate the efforts that were put in, but I am sure that you guys got a heap of satisfaction out of improving its simple life....good on ya!!
