for a first timer I would say definately Agent is the way to go but I'm fairly comfortable that should something unforseen happen, I would be in a much better position to sort stuff out in Bali than an agent in Perth who really doesn't care *that* much.
Obviously if I can get the same or very similar price then an Agent is the way to go but I do not put a huge weight on service vs price when dealing with a middle man :)
