(Part 1) Just returned yesterday after 11 interesting days. So how well do you know your travelling buddies? I bkd with 4 other work mates (all girls -ish )and although we knew each other well its not till you go away together you appreciate their true value. A miracle when arriving in Bali we didnt have to queue to get thru the VOA/Immig lines, but as usual the pockets were burning in the customs and after a quick visit to the "öffice" for an exchange of $10 for allowing my 2nd bottle of etoh thru (and one of my friends) we waited for the other 3 to come thru. Alas their luggage was held so all the surfboards could be got off (flew Garuda from Syd)so it was another hour before we finally faced the throng! Stuff up with transport soon fixed and off to the Bali Dynasty for 10 nights. Uhm. they cant find one of the bookings despite the confirmation sheet with ID numbers, credit card details etc. Soon rectified but not without standing my ground and demanding the booking I initially requested.. There is a lot of shafting going on with accom in bali at the moment so its worth digging in your heels if put in a similiar situation. Finally got to the pool and a welcome R&R. First night we had 3 sharing in one room with interconnecting twin Did not sleep a wink after being woken by the worst, loudest snoring I have ever heard. Sadly we aggreed that the 3 of us who admitted to snoring would share a room but after the 2nd night with no sleep (even after using those indust strength ear plugs) I cracked up. So it was decided to shift the "snorer" into the twin with another volunteer. It lasted 2 nights ( J was more than tipsy the first of these nights) and the 2nd night in she came with her mattress to have 4 in our room and the "snorer" in her own!! So the 5th night another volunteer who was not too disturbed by the snooring but totally rattled by the "snorer" trying to organize everything and incessant chatter! The 7th night we came back from the Mt Batur bike ride and elephants (will do 2nd JBR on what we did) to find the "snorer" had mooved out to another room and a sad note "if you want to include her me in anything here is my room number!! OMG, I wanted to do serious damage as did the other 3, but the snorer was intitled to a good holiday as were the rest of us, so we all pretended nothing was wrong and enjoyed the rest of the holiday!Damage done and will be hard to get over it! so know who you are traveling with before you go , it could end in disaster. Will follow with all the great things we did, the shopping and the fun (Yes we did have fun) Carmel
