they do collect your baggage. They take your baggage claim tickets off your boarding pass and check the numbers correspond. I did however, put ribbon on our suitcases, that was quite distinctive and also carried a sample of the ribbon in my carry on bag to show the guy when we arrived. They were back in about 10mins with our bags.
