booked to leave in January. It will be our 10th trip to Bali in 32 years. We are taking our adult sons - a very rare family holiday.
We went just after the first bombing because we figured if we didn't face our fears we would never go back. To be honest the first few nights freaked me out, I was very anxious and there was a weird feeling in the air...we were staying in Legian. We moved to Ubud and started to chill out but must admit it was a relief to be flying home. Then we returned last year and absolutely loved it - not a single moment of feeling uncomfortable. Went to Java 4 months ago - every bit as amazing as Bali.....no fear factor at all :)
Still undecided about January...we are leaving it til the last minute to see what pans out in the next couple of months. I see no point in going if we are all anxious and have to be on high alert all the time. We are going away to relax not to be stressed out !!!
Bali will always be there and always be very special but there are lots of other amazing places to visit in the interim if we have to wait for things to calm down in Bali. Hope that makes sense to you :)
Another huge factor is our families - it is not fair to go if they are stressing out about it - they love us and I couldn't put them thru the worry it would cause if we were to travel when our Govt says not to.
I really believe that all will be ok by January but if not there is always another day :)
Cheers
