With the demise of places such as Robbies and the like at Dreamland your best options now are on one of the Gilli Islands off Lombok for your laid back beachside Indo experience. I prefer Blue Coral, at the northern end of Gilli Meno. Last I paid (a couple of years ago, although I believe it's still there) was Rp 25 000
a night for a small bamboo hut close to the water in which turtles feed and other marine life are starting to flourish again after years of bombing. No electricity but a lamp was provided and you had to walk a few hundred metres to access food. Plenty of local guitar players to jam with as well.
