there are so many nice places in Ubud in your price range, I'll tell you 2 very different rooms at two different hotels that you will never forget.
"The Gangga Room" at Alam Shanti $125 USD plus tax, this room over looks a small bubbling creek, that runs along side lush gardens and the rice fields. The room itself is huge (more like a small flat), it has it's own inside water garden/feature, it is full of traditional carvings and art, think lush, ornate, timber and stone and about as Bali as it gets. Some one once wrote "room what room? it's more like a palace", and yes it is, like out of some amazing movie.

The "Down Stairs Villa" at Tegal Sari, where do you begin? Now this place doesn't have views as it is surrounded by walls but it does have it's own private plunge pool, kitchen, lounge and huge bedroom, the walls looking into your courtyard are floor to ceiling glass and it has one entire wall that is mosaic mirrors, Toto are we still in Bali? looks like something out of a ultra modern home showcase magazine, but at about $100 USD a night it is a room you have to see to believe.
Both these hotels are well known and loved on this forum and very reputable to book with, but like I said at that price range you could stay in so many places, good luck.

P.s you should make it 3 or 4 nights, lots to do and see up there, great shopping, the fashion and vibe are really different to the coast.
