We took a light-weight travel cot with a length of mozzie netting that covered the cot but didn't touch the ground (so critters couldn't climb up it). Sprayed the net & cot with Baygon daily. Inhaling mozzie coil smoke is yukky for adults & especially babies so avoid it if you can.

Take light-weight clothes that cover as much of the baby's body as possible & use insect repellent on the clothes rather than on the baby's skin. There's a local product available from Apotiks & warungs in a pink squeeze bottle that worked better than anything we'd brought from home - can't recall the name. Keep baby out of the sun, keep up the fluids (take an atomiser for cool water sprays) & listen to any advice you are given from Balinese. The average 15 yo Balinese, of either sex, has far more experience with babies than does the average 30 yo Aussie female. After some initial resistance I always took their advice & learned heaps. Be prepared, relax & enjoy :)
