Use the light blue 'Blue Bird' taxi's they have meters and you don't need to bargain your price. Blue bird taxi's are the best transport if just needing to get from A to B (eg. hotel to restaurant or to shops). You will find Blue Bird taxi's available everywhere in the tourist area's.
If you are planning on a day trip then hire a driver for the day. You will find drivers with van's or cars outside your hotel who will offer transport for half day and full day trips..Negotiate a fair price first before accepting their services.
You pay the taxi at your drop of point and pay the drivers at the end of the trip!
I can also recommend a very good driver with an 8 seater bus, it has a good air-conditioner and he has a tour license..He's very experienced and informative and offers the going rates. You can email me, if you would like his contact details.
