Thanks for your great JBRs.

I, too, had a lot of trouble with the jeweler in Kuta Paradiso - maybe I was the one who was taking up their time (my ring was finally delivered on June 14). Audrey was just fine, great, but the older woman (her Mum?) & the guy in the work station were just useless, worse - arrogant, obstructive & couldn't give a flying f***. Audrey was caring & came to my hotel but I felt there was something amiss during the whole process. In all, it was a very long story, a nightmare & I lost sleep over it - my late Mum-in-law's ring - lots of sentimental stuff.

I still haven't been to the city to have the ring I ended up with (which looks just great - exactly as I wanted) valued by the jeweler who assessed it in its original state. Soon. Just so fed up with the ring stuff, you know? When taking existing jewelry to be remodeled, take a picture of it in its original state together with a very detailed report from an Aussie valuer. Personally, for a piece that matters, I'd use an Aussie jeweler. I'll do a detailed report once my ring has been assessed.

Re: specs - I had some computer/reading specs made at the place opposite Carefour - used a script I'd got the week before from OPSM in Perth - OPSM had written plus instead of minus on my script - so the specs were of course useless. More money, more trips to woop woop. While I was happy with the service & the range of great specs at the place at Carefour, it's easier using shops handier. And always get your eyes tested there even if you have a recent script from Oz.
