We are now moving home so have busily packing and looking for somewhere to live so haven't had a chance to continue with JBR until today, continuing accommodation:
Kumala Pantai:
After leaving Lembongan we moved to the Kumula Pantai at Legian for 6 nights. Hadn't stayed there before but had stayed at several other hotels along that strip so knew a bit about it. We booked directly by email. Very prompt service with booking although they told us that they could only give us two double rooms as they didn't have any twins left. I emailed back and said that we definately needed a twin and left it at that. On arrival no problems we had a double and twin in the new block (S). Very nice, we were on the top floor (oh all those stairs several times a day) and friends were right behind the pool bar. Oops I thought they will want to move quick smart but actually they said that they couldn't hear much and were out all day and it wasn't an issue. Pool bar closes at 7pm and all the noise goes with it.
Talking about the pool bar, the new pool has the bar in the kids pool. Makes a lot of sense doesn't it, so the chairs near the kids pool were constantly taken by adults who were drinking at the bar. They may or may not have had children but anyone else with kids wanting a quiet time with them wouldn't have got a look in. In fact while the new pool looks good it is a really bad design. We really didn't see the other pool as it was closed cause it was green and milky. They had extra pumps in but it was a struggle to get clear and useable. The new pool doesn;t have steps that go to the bottom of the pool so you got down so far and then had to jump or sit on step and ease yourself in. Strange. The loungers at one end are also under a huge tree that was dropping leaves constantly on your chair and head so they may need to look at that. The other fault from my perspective was that the pool edge sloping away from the pool is lower so anytime any jumped in or splashed anything you had on the ground got wet.
Sounds like I didn't like the KP bt in fact it was fine. Way too big for us now, we prefer smaller places but it was nice, staff friendly, food fine and it was clean although they were having problems with a sewer smell in the new block while we were there. Smell came in through the bathroom and as long as you kept the door closed it was fine. The smell also came and went so while a nuisance it wasn't too bad. I fell in love with the new loos in S block. It was called a ECo Saver I think and had the bottom washing sprayer in the loo (like an all in one bidet). All you did was lean slightly forward and push the button and whala your bot was clean. I so want one of those at home :)
Tepi Sawah Villa's:
After KP we moved to Ubud for our last four nights. Felt a bit back the front but we did it this way to accommodate a friend who was leaving earlier and needed to be in Legian to finish her shopping. Couldn't get into Tegal Sari so we ended up at a place called Tepi Sawah Villas. Booked through Asis rooms from memory and realy I dont want to say too much about this place other than it was wonderful don't want to share. Really this was a find, a little out of Ubud maybe 2km but they had a shuttle and more than happy to drop you off and pick up. There is a gallery and restaurant attached. Several of the Villas overlook rice fields and the kids were on holidays so out with their kites. Its small about 18 villas and the pool has to be one of the nicest I have ever seen or used. Staff and food were excellent and we will certainly stay there again.
Off to pack more boxes so will finish aother day. Please ask any questions. Cheers :)
