Hi there, got back this morning , flew with singapore. We were probably 6kg's o/weight (between 3 of us) and they also let me put a 3kg box in the hold, no probs. But a lady who was checking in alone and had 2 cases and a bag pack was being charged for excees. I think it depends.
I was prepared to pay excess if necessary, but they didn't ask so i didn't offer.
