If you mean an extended VOA which gives you 30 days..legally..no.

Can only extend on a 60 day visa (Visitor Visa - Single Entry - either tourist visit or Social etc)

If too late for you to get the 60 day visa before you go then yes you will have to leave the country or pay a hefty over stay charge & whatever consequences that may or may not apply.

How long before you leave Australia?
60 day visas often are issued quite quickly?
