In my opinion the exchange rate at Australian airports is a disgrace. If Australians were presented with the same options in other countries they would be outraged. The last time I looked the differental between buy and sell was 3000 rupiah that is, 1500 above and below the going rate. The exchange at Bali airport is probably a fraction below the rate in Kuta so I wouldnt hesitate changing 100-200 there without worrying about ATMs which will have further charges from our lovely banks. BTW the buy back rate from the bank in the departure area was a small 100 rupiah below what I bought it for. I think thats pretty fair and reasonable.
