Having just had implants done in Melbourne yesterday (at about the time you were writing this post!) I can testify to the amount of measuring and preparation that happens before the implant is done. I had to have the teeth concerned out before the implant work was done as the roots that were left on which my crowns hung somewhat precariously, were stuffed and then waited several weeks to let the site heal well. There were also several specific xrays to ensure there was enough bone in which to place the titanium implant. I think a photo of the area would be of limited value (other than for your benefit of before and after photos) as there were many measurements taken and plenty of preparation done.
Today I feel ok, but was warned that I may need to take a couple of days of work. Is this what you want to do on your holiday?
PS Yes it does cost a lot of money in Australia, but if you have extras health insurnace, then you may get quiote a bit back from the major dental part of it.
