Really it is the end amount being close to the correct price.
If nobody cared and just paid, we could be paying $20.00 for t shirts.
If you follow somw Japanese around you can see the difference. They get told a price and they pay regardless as bartering to them is not on.
Then you try to buy from the vendor after them and the price is highly inflated and the vendor isn't interested in bartering themselves as they just got paid hugely by the Japanese tourist and now expect it from you.
So bit of catch 22.
If you don't barter correctly the prices will increase for everyone in the future.
You should barter to save the standard of pricing for the people who follow after you. OR your next trip to paradise.
